Centre Coordinator - Qualified Early Childhood Educator

Wongan Cubbyhouse is located in Wongan Hills within the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu and the centre of the WA Wheatbelt. Our caring community and local businesses both support and value our child care service. Wongan Hills is well serviced, only 184kms North-East of Perth and offers the advantages of country living.

We are a not-for-profit, committee run child care centre which offers high quality education and care to children aged 0 - 9. We currently operate Monday to Friday, 8.15am – 5.15pm each day with 19 enrolment places and a staff team of 15 employees including relief educators.

Cubbyhouse’s committee is seeking to employ a professional person who enjoys working with children and as part of a small, dedicated staff team. The successful candidate will possess an absolute ‘can-do’ attitude, have proven experience leading and motivating staff and value collaboration and best practice.

The purpose of the Centre Co-ordinator is to be responsible for the day to day management of the Centre in conjunction with the Administrative Co-ordinator, providing supervision and direction to all reporting staff ensuring the day to day operations of the Centre comply with Cubbyhouse’s policies and procedures, Government legislation, Workplace Health and Safety and the National Quality Standards.

The design, implementation and evaluation of programs for children in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF) is also the responsibility of the Centre Co-ordinator. The Centre Co-ordinator reports directly to the Centre Manager and is part of the management team.

Remuneration – Minimum contract 34hrs per week with the possibility of increased hours. Salary up to $55,400 (pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience (up to Level 5.4 & conditions as per Children’s Services Award 2010).

Applicants must have the following:-
Essential:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services or higher.
  • Knowledge of the child care industry, EYLF, NQF and the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
  • Confident leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Relevant First Aid certificate (HLTAID004 or equivalent).
  • Proven effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
  • Willingness to become the Centre’s Nominated Supervisor.

Desirable:

  • Degree in Early Childhood from a recognised tertiary institution or working towards.
  • Proven skills in the management & professional development of a team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children’s programs 0-9 years.
  • Knowledge of working within a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in working with a management committee/owner operator.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the rural and regional context in which Wheatbelt ECEC services operate.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
