Experienced Book Keeper / Admin

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Book Keeper/Admin to join our service working across our two sites; Yawarra Community & Child Care Centre located in Bidwill and Ngallu Wal Aboriginal Child Care Family Centre located in Doonside.

This position is to start in March 2019. The successful applicant will be required to work 32 hours per week (3 days in one service and 2 days in the other service).

The Book Keeper/Admin is the key point of contact between our two services and the broader community.

The successful applicant will;

  • Be experienced and a motivated person who is able to use their own initiative.
  • Have sound pay role experience.
  • Experience in accounts payable and receivable.
  • Experience in preparing financial reports and budgets.
  • Be highly competent in the use of web and Mac applications.
  • Experience with Zero accounting software.
  • Experience with CCS and Hubworks.
  • Have strong and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate they can work independently as well as a part of a team.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a proven capacity to priorities and use initiative.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional integrity.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ideally gained experience in a Child Care Service.
  • Ideally have experience in maintaining child care fees for families
  • Have a current Working With Children Check or be willing to undertake one.

Your role and responsibility:

  • Respond to all enquiries in a welcoming and timely manner.
  • Pay staff wages, accounts etc. in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Prepare financial reports and budgets (in consultation with the Authorised Supervisor).
  • Complete necessary banking and collect service mail.
  • Perform a range of administrative and clerical duties including; management of electronic and hardcopy information, faxing, mail, email, photocopying, maintenance of attendance registers, and receipt of deliveries.
  • Report children’s daily attendance via Hubworks
  • Print and distribute the service newsletter.
  • Liaise closely with the Authorised Supervisor.
  • Liaise with staff regarding children and families.
  • Ensure all fees are up to date and comply with Yawarra’s fee policy.
  • Recording and reconciling the service income including fees and government payments.
  • Maintain petty cash.
  • Assist with fundraising as required.
