Child and Family Practitioner

We provide integrated, inclusive early childhood services through five Early Care and Education Centres plus Family Day Care wherein 30% of our families are experiencing a range of vulnerabilities. The Infants’ Home is looking for a Child and Family Practitioner to join our vibrant and well-regarded integrated early childhood service which supports best practice and research initiatives. This exciting career opportunity exists to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, comprising of educators and therapists. The role includes providing a case management service for children and families with vulnerabilities, family support including parent-child interventions, the facilitation of reflective practice circles and coordinating our transition to school program.
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Minimum 4 years’ post-graduate experience in a case management role (or similar), working with young children and families with vulnerabilities
- Proven experience working in a variety of social work interventions including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling and group facilitation
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice
- Advanced knowledge of legislation and best practice frameworks within a Child Protection context
- Demonstrated knowledge of the complex needs of children and families with vulnerabilities, including barriers to learning, development and engagement with services
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Effective relationship management skills both with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Current NSW Driver’s License
- Completion of an approved child protection training unit/course
- A valid NSW Working with Children Check
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia
Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas is desirable:
- NDIS, referral pathways and access streams for disability support services
- Facilitating evidence based parenting programs
- Early childhood education settings and child care subsidy supports
- Early childhood educational approaches
- Grant report writing and acquittals
