Children Support Officer

City of Darwin are looking for an energetic person wanting to work part time as our Child Support Assistant. This role plays an integral role in delivering the Fun Bus mobile playgroup service, Fun in the Parks school holiday program and children's and family-centric activities. We are looking for motivated and energetic person who can deliver high-quality contemporary children's activities across Darwin's diverse community.

About the opportunity

The role will focus in providing support to the Child's Play Coordinator and the Support Officer in delivering high quality educational and play-based activities for the diverse Darwin community. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of the programs and events and assist with preparing the children's activities before the families arrive and tidy away at the end of the sessions. You will be required to ensure the children are adequately always supervised and participate in creating and maintain a safe environment for children and families. To thrive in this role, you must be passionate about supporting children, young people, families, and communities. The role requires physical lifting of equipment and participation in physical outdoor activities with children and families.

To be successful in this position you are required to have:

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualifications and/or relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate activities for children under 12 years old
  • At least one year experience in Family or Community Services
  • Provide a First Aid Certificate
  • National Police Records Check
  • NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
