The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent part-time Lead Educator to join our Outside School Hours Care team. Working closely with the Aspley Early Childhood Education Centre Director and Educational Leader, you will implement a high quality, inclusive and educational OSHC program. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a talented educator with a passion for education who is keen to make a meaningful contribution to their role, community, and families. 

Aspley Early Childhood Education Centre is part of the newly created Uniting Education Early Learning section of the Church in Queensland. We are searching for an enthusiastic Lead Educator to join our Outside School Hours team, providing their community with high quality after school hours education and care.

The successful applicant will bring to the role:

  • An ACECQA approved Diploma level qualification or higher – required
  • Previous experience in outside school hours care or long day care sector is preferred.
  • A warm and welcoming approach that shows acceptance and respect for all children and their families
  • Be available to work split shifts to provide care to the OSHC children both morning and afternoon.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the My Time Our Place Framework and National Quality Framework and National Law and Regulations,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to building strong relationships with children and family,
  • Attention to detail, manage time efficiently and be a quick learner
  • Current valid Blue Card, Police Check, First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Training

What do we need you to do?

  • Lead the delivery of quality educational learning experiences through a quality play-based early childhood education program within the My Time, Our Place Framework (MTOP).
  • Maintain a current understanding of theories and contemporary issues relating to early childhood development and the early childhood profession.
  • Ensure a safe environment and culture by supporting the development of the centre team capabilities to identify and respond to hazards and risks, informing the Director of issues and supporting the implementation of solutions to resolve and prevent a re-occurrence of incidents.
  • Exemplify personal drive and integrity, taking personal responsibility for meeting objectives, showing initiative and committing energy to achieving goals.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake duties as a responsible person in day-to-day charge of the service as per ACECQA requirements.
  • Maintain a safe environment for children, families, employees and visitors and implement strategies to achieve safety outcomes, constantly driving continuous improvement, taking all reasonable care to ensure actions do not impact on the health and safety of employees, children and visitors.
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in children and focus on fostering a sense of belonging and treat all children with dignity and respect, embracing each child’s unique family and background.
  • Demonstrated ability to support each child’s needs and to guide children’s behaviour in a positive way that encourages children to interact with care, empathy and respect.
  • Participate in all care and education duties as required with all children at the service and undertake general cleaning tasks to maintain overall cleanliness of the room and service.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Educational Leader and team to enable the service to achieve best practice and quality outcomes.
