Opportunity: Permanent Part-Time Early Childhood Teacher (with 9 month probation period) ​from January 2026
Group: Magpie 2 
Days/Hours: Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 4:30pm (plus 3.5 additional non-contact hours per week) with paid recess leave
Qualifications Required: Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent + QCT Registration + First Aid + Willingness to be a Responsible Person in Charge (RPIC)
Pay & Benefits: Above award pay based on qualifications and years of professional experience + Superannuation + Additional paid hours for events/meetings

Rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard, St Lucia Kindergarten aims to provide a caring, safe, inspiring learning environment. We believe children learn best through well-planned and supported play. Learning takes place in our beautiful, well-resourced classrooms and our large, natural outdoor play areas. We hold an annual Art Show to showcase children’s work, we have an extensive incursion program, and also offer Nature Play Excursions in Term 2 and 3.

The Teacher will be expected to:

  • Be enthusiastic and passionate about children and play-based learning in early childhood
  • Provide a secure and nurturing environment for all children to feel safe, secure and included
  • Communicate effectively and build warm and responsive relationships with children, families and other team members
  • Develop, plan and implement a high quality educational and child-centred learning program, to meet the needs of individual children and the group
  • Maintain written documentation, including learning observations, critical reflections and whole group plans based on the planning cycle in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF)
  • Ensure that the physical learning environment is safe, well-maintained, inviting and dynamic
  • Engage in physical tasks such as setting up and packing up play equipment
  • Build a strong and positive working relationship with all teachers and educators at the service based on respect, trust and collaboration
  • Be part of the service’s Leadership Team and work as an effective team leader to direct and support their Assistant Teacher and any Inclusion Support Assistants
  • Share their own strengths and interests as an educator within the team
  • Be flexible and reflective, with a commitment to ongoing improvement, professional development and learning
  • Be willing to follow directions from the Director and Parent Management Committee
  • Participate in regular team meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Join Kindy and community events e.g. BBQs, Harmony Day Breakfast, Open Day and Art Show

Magpie 2 in 2026 will be a new teaching team, and as a result, the appointed Teacher for 2026 will be invited to be involved in the final stage of the Magpie 2 Assistant Teacher recruitment process.
