Fairfield City Council manages a variety of Children and Family Services, including Fairstart Early Intervention and family support services.  Fairstart Early Intervention offers specialist support for children with a disability or developmental delay 0-10 years. Services include speech pathology, occupational therapy and specialist teacher support. Strong networking opportunities and support exist for therapists who work within our Early Intervention service, as do internal opportunities for skills development and career progression.

THE POSITION:

We have an exciting opportunity for a therapist to join our Therapy team. Due to the nature of our team's clinical work, therapy staff will have the opportunity to build on and develop their skills across a broad range of areas, including working closely with families, early learning centres, schools, and other stakeholders to promote children's communication, development, and participation in their home and community life. A collaborative approach is essential in this role to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of interventions across a child’s natural environments. The Therapist will be responsible for conducting assessments and providing interventions in various settings, including home, school, early learning centres, and the clinic. Assessment and intervention will largely focus on the child’s early play skills, communication skills, social skills, daily living skills (e.g., dressing, toileting, and feeding), and fine and gross motor development.

Opportunities to support families and early learning educators to build their capacity and encourage proactive strategies to support children's development within daily routines and environments are also available.

We support qualified therapists of all levels embarking on their career by providing skill development support from our team leader, supervision and access to funded professional development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science –Speech Pathology/Occupational Therapist or equivalent
  • Current membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)/Membership of Occupational Therapy Australia / Registration with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Certified Practising status
  • Eligibility to obtain a Medicare provider number
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Check

DESIRBLE:

  • Accredited short courses eg: certification to run Hanen programs or other relevant courses for children, parents or educators
  • Medicare provider number
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • The are 4 permanent full-time positions (35 hours per week).
  • The positions are a Grade 5, $86,482 per annum with progression to $95,459 per annum on demonstrated competencies, with performance progression to $101,305 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
