Childcare Centre Assistant Director / Room Leader

Gidgillys Early Education and Care Centre is a 59-place centre located in Jindabyne NSW. Established in 2006, the Centre is a licensed long day care centre and preschool offering high quality education and care services to the Jindabyne and surrounding community.

Our dedicated and passionate team of Educators aspire to provide engaging and enriching educational experiences for children to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in learning.

Currently, we are seeking an experienced, passionate Assistant Director/Room Leader to work alongside our team of dedicated educators, who will foster and develop meaningful relationships with children and families attending our Centre.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with our experienced educators to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for our children.

This role includes the development and implementation of programming and planning, enabling each child to be supported to achieve and thrive in a caring and inclusive environment.

About the role

  • Commencing February 2026

  • Permanent Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

Room Leader / Educational Leader

  • Support educators through mentoring, modelling best practice, and fostering positive team culture

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with children and families

  • Lead and develop innovative and engaging educational programs guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

  • Mentoring, coaching and guiding team including organising professional development opportunities 

  • Ensure educational programs comply with NQS, EYLF, and centre policies

Assistant Director

  • Reviewing and contributing to the policies, procedures, action and quality improvement plans

  • Assist with enrolments, tours, family communication, and staff management 

  • Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation

  • Support rosters, staff scheduling, and general centre organisation

  • Collaborate on Quality Improvement Plans and centre goals

  • Contribute to staff management, including inductions, training, and performance support

  • Work closely with the Centre Director to ensure smooth operation of the service

  • Act as the Centre Director during periods of extended leave by the Centre Director

Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma or Working Towards Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

  • Experience in a leadership or senior educator role will be highly regarded

  • Current Working with Children Check

  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis certifications

  • Solid understanding of NQS, EYLF, and regulatory requirement
