Support Kitchenhand and Cleaner

We are looking for a Part-Time/Full Time Kitchen Hand and service cleaner starting April 2026, who can understand how to read an action plan, follow childrens allergy chart and be diligent when serving alternative non-allergen meals. In addition to understanding how a cleaning colour code chart supports the right WHS practices. 

Tarella House is a beautiful heritage-style building that strives to be an extension of home to the children, families and educators. 

We have an in house chef and the job would be to collect food from our sister service, just a minutes walk away, by following the easy guidelines of transport and the risk minimisation form. In addition, you would prepare the utensils needed for the meals, and ensure everything is washed up and packed away. 

The successful candidate will also be assisitng in bathroom cleaning, dusting, vaccuuming, and mopping communcal areas. 

Qualifications & experience:

  • Experience in a similar setting - desirable but not essential
  • An understanding of food safety and cleanliness pracrices
  • Have a flexible and enthusiastic attitude
  • Qualifications in Basic Food Handling, or willingness to obtain.
  • Good time management skills are essential to ensure that mealtimes run smoothly and that the kitchen is managed efficiently, along with ensuring all duties during the shift are completed efficiently.
  • Desired, but not essetial - A certifcate 3 in Early Childhood Education, or Working Towards a recognised ECE certifate. 

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Serving meals for up to 62 children per day. 
  • Stock control, preparing ordering lists, maintaining food and hygeine safety
  • Adhering to the National Quality Standards of food preparation and clean services
  • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
  • Completing and recording the required food/temperature checks and additional cleaning cheklists
